On the 8th and 9th of February 2024, a delegation from the faculty of engineering at the University of Balamand (UOB) led by Prof. Rami Abboud, Vice President for Internationalization and Engagement and the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, visited the University of Lleida (UdL) in Spain to conclude a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signage directed by the UOB President Dr. Elias Warrak.
The UOB delegation met its Spanish counterpart from the University of Lleida (UdL) led by Prof. Antoni Granollers Saltiveri, the UdL’s Vice-rector for Internationalization at the Escola Politècnica Superior. The school’s director, Magda Vall, welcomed the UOB delegation, explained the vision and perspectives of the school, and exchanged ideas about international collaboration and academic exchange opportunities. Afterward, both delegations toured the Scientific Technological Agro-Alimentary Park in Lleida, met its director, and realized new and exciting facts about astronomy. Later that day, the UOB delegation participated in UdL’s welcoming event for international students, fostering valuable connections. The next day witnessed the signage of the MOU by both vice rectors, Prof. Abboud and Prof. Saltiveri, in the presence of the director of the international office at UdL as well as various faculty members and staff from both institutions.
This MOU will sustain the SWaTH activities and solidify the holistic relationship between the two institutions. UOB and UdL have three joint Ph.D. theses; 2 are financially supported by the SwaTH project and supervised by Dr. Makram El Bachawati, Prof. Gabriel Pérez Luque, and Prof. Rita Puig Vidal in addition to other exchange programs and European projects. Moreover, this MOU will set the stage for future collaborative endeavors and exchange programs, solidifying the connections between UOB and UdL for mutual benefits.
