In August 2021, the SWaTH Project is organizing a comprehensive training session for Lebanese Red Cross volunteers in the Disaster Management sector at the University of Balamand (Nahyan building). This session aims to equip volunteers with the necessary skills to use ArcGIS to collect data on hospital wastewater treatment practices from private and public hospitals across Lebanon, particularly in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The training will feature several distinguished guests, including Prof. Rami Abboud, the Vice President of Internationalization and Engagement and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at UOB, Mrs. Ismat Abi Khalil from the Lebanese American University, and Dr. Amal Iaaly, the Director of the GIS Center at the University of Balamand. This training session will also include an explanation of the survey's scientific and technical aspects, an introduction to the software, and a practice session.
This training session is important to accurately collect data related to wastewater treatment practices from private and public hospitals across the country despite the additional challenges imposed by the COVID-19 lockdown and the stringent health and safety protocols.
